May 1 and First Baseball Practice

Let's start with the good news......Griff had his first baseball practice on Monday and he loved it.  He's got a great team (lots of school friends on it) and a great coach (Dad :-), and everyone seems to have a bit more skill this year.  And it's machine pitch, which is cool.  All of which makes for a fun way to spend a beautiful spring night in MN .....

The kids meeting each other and the coaches. Mike is coaching with a Dad of one of Griff's very good friends.  The other two assistant coaches are also Dads of friends, so it's working out great for everyone!

A throwing drill. Griff is all the way over to the right, in the black Blackhawks (Go Hawks!) hat and humongous blue t-shirt.
 A fielding drill.

A spontaneous pick up game with the other team practicing at the same field. I missed it, but Griff hit his very first pitch. He couldn't wait to tell me about it when I got home from skating with Abby.

See the beautiful spring night we had on Monday.......

The bad news is that Griff will miss his second practice of the season tonight, due to the SEVERE WINTER STORM WARNING and the 6 - 8 inches of snow that is expected throughout today and this evening.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?  This is what it looks like outside....actually, these were taken a 1/2 hour ago. It's worse now.

Okay, I had to take another picture just to show you all how unbelievable this is. Can you see our green grass? Of course not, it's covered in SNOW. On May 1.

Between this incredibly insane weather and our lovely Governor's desire to increase our (already high) state income tax, we may be out of this state before you can say Adios. Texas is looking pretty good right about now......
