Snow Day!

First big snow of the winter....February 28.....I'll take it! Best winter since we've been here.

We were out early playing since the power was out.  No TV or computer in the early morning is a killer. It's just not morning without some SpongeBob or people.com :-)  And morning certainly a bit harder to take without any coffee...yikes!

Gymnastics Fun

Hannah's gymnastics class had a little parent show yesterday.  The kids put on a little routine, showing  parents and guests what they have been learning. We got to see Hannah on the balance beam, floor, vault and bars. She is doing great. She fights me every Tuesday about going.....doesn't want to....and then as soon as class is over she exclaims how much she loves gymnastics.  She keeps me guessing this one :-)  All the kids got a little blue ribbon. Hannah thinks it's the best.

Oh, and it's a snow day today...first one this year. The kids can't wait to get outside and play! Will have pictures later.

Art Fun

A little bit of painting fun today.  We had a relatively - and welcome - quiet day today. Lots of reading, playing games and painting going on. A good Sunday :-)

4 Minute Penalty

Street hockey has proven to be a brutal sport. Hit in the face with a hockey stick. Now we know to wear helmets even OFF the ice......

After a quick trip to Urgent Care, Griff has been fixed up with some derma-bond and is feeling better, even with the bit of bruising & swelling that is beginning to show. And how tough does he look??

Beautiful February Day

Never thought I would say THAT....beautiful day today.  Griff and Abby are outside playing street hockey with Mike, since the pond is a little slushy :-)  I love this winter!!

Chance has been banished to the inside of the house since he's having a hard time staying in the yard and instead wants to wonder all over the neighborhood.

Hannah is inside with me as she is still getting over the cold/fever/cough that Griff gave her (and to me, argh).  She's been having those "I have a cold" food cravings.....this morning she wanted a McDonald's cheeseburger and this afternoon she wanted hard boiled eggs.

Kid Update

It's been awhile, so a little update for you on the kiddos:

Hannah
*  LOVES to draw and color. She has perfected her drawing of a little girl (the eye lashes are the best!) and draws her over and over again. I have learned to turn over every piece of school work she brings home from school b/c she draws some type of picture on the back of every piece. I'm hoping she is not getting in trouble by her teacher!
*  After drawing, playing Barbies and American Girl dolls is her favorite thing to do.
*  House of Anubis and How to Rock are her favorite tv shows. They on Nick and are shows about high school kids. Mike laughs and says Hannah has her own little soap operas :-)  I know they not appropriate for her, and yet I find myself watching with her :-)
*  Is Chance's best friend. She is going to be a vet when she grows up, I just know it.
*  Has a waffle with chocolate chips on it almost every day for breakfast.  It's whole wheat.  That makes it okay, right?
*  Wears her hair in a french braid almost every day.


Griff
* Would play computer games ALL DAY LONG if we let him. First thing he asks to do when he wakes up.  He knows his way around the MAC like a pro. Racing games are his favorite.
*  Eats frosted shredded wheat almost every morning. If it's not that, it's apple toaster strudel.

*  LOVES Just Dance. When he's not playing computer games, he's dancing.
* Likes to the the monthly homework that his teacher sends home at the beginning of each month. He is very excited when he completes all the activities.
* Enjoys learning to read and will sit and read with me.


Abby
* Still reading ALL THE TIME.  She is very into dog classics right now. Has read many of them....Lassie, Where the Red Fern Grows, Old Yeller, Big Red.  The Incredible Journey and The Yearling are next on her list.
* Is still ice skating and will be starting practice for the ice show coming up in March. She can't wait to find out what her costume will be!
* Is selling Girl Scout cookies and actually likes going house to house to sell. I'm not sure where she got the selling gene....not from Mike or me!
* Likes to act out scenes from How to Rock with Hannah. They know the lines by heart and do a pretty good reenactment!
