Yesterday I took the Kids Here......

......for an impromptu photo shoot.

A friend told me about a field near us that was full of Black-Eyed Susans, and I wanted to check it out. She was right - they were as far as the eye could see!  We parked on the side of the rode and trucked down a restricted path for some pictures! I was keeping my eye out for officer friendly the entire time, as I really don't think we were supposed to be traipsing around.  The pictures turned out pretty good, and we made it out of there seconds before it started to rain. Enjoy!

Zoo Fun

Went to the zoo yesterday, Tuesday, with some friends of ours. The kids all had a blast seeing the animals and then riding the rides in the little amusement park that is there. They had an incredible butterfly exhibit, which everyone thought was pretty cool.  The butterflies were really beautiful. It was a long day, and all of us were very tired by the time we got home. It was early to bed for everyone last night! Enjoy the pictures - not too many of Abby as she was running around with her friend most of the time and I was unable to keep up with her!

Ran out of tickets for the rides - Hannah was ready to jump the fence to ride a little horse and buggy ride!
Griff's favorite ride by far.....CARS. Not sure what is going on with Hannah's expression!
Hanny loved the Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride!
Fire truck ride.
The kiddos
Skinniest tiger I've ever seen.
Sparky the Sea Lion, Hannah's favorite part of the day.

A Lost Tooth and a New Room

First, Abby lost her front top tooth last Saturday. It had been loose FOREVER (seriously, since March).  Friday she was at tennis class and got bopped in the mouth by a feed from her coach and that was all it took - it was just dangling, but she wouldn't let anyone pull it.  Saturday morning she woke up and it was just floating around in her mouth!  Interestingly enough, she is very attached to this tooth and refuses to give it up to the tooth fairy - it is still sitting in a small box in her room. She said she'll let me know when she's ready to give it up, probably "like, when I'm ten or so."  She does look cute with the gap in her mouth!
Griff also had some changes this weekend - we finally got around to getting him mattresses for his big bed, so he is all moved into his big boy bedroom.  He loves it, and repeatedly tells me how excited he is to have his own bed.  Below are some pictures; as promised to Griff, his room is red and blue, with a bit of White Sox goodies mixed in!

Dresser that I found on craigslist and painted navy/midnight blue and then distressed it a bit - this picture is closest to its true color. I like how it turned out. It's missing the hardware on the doors b/c I forgot to put it on. I just noticed it now, in the picture!
Looking into his room from his door.  Picture a blue valance over his window - I couldn't get it up by myself today and have to wait for Mike to do it later this week. Oh, and the trophies and plaques on the shelves by the window - those are Mike's from little league and high school! Thanks to Grandma Newman for saving them!!
Love my $2.00 red chair from some garage sale months ago......Mr. Monkey looks great sitting there!
Another picture of the dresser - it's really not that bright blue, promise.

Blackboard and little hanging thing I made for  his chalk, eraser and Sox hat! Oh, and his baseball beanbag chair!
Yes, he's wearing Dora pjs; I haven't done laundry and all I had were some of Hannah's!
Mike and I were going to do a "board and batten" molding treatment on the red part of the wall, and I still might in the fall. I was just sick of painting this weekend and couldn't make myself paint 30 pieces of 1 inch trim to put down the walls....so, that may be to come, otherwise, it's done!

I think we are off to the zoo tomorrow, and if so, I'll post some pictures from that little adventure!

Impromptu Sprinkler Party

Mike had the sprinkler out last night, watering the part of the lawn that for some reason doesn't get hit with our sprinkler system, and of course the kids thought it would be fun to play in it.  Mike and I didn't expect them to get soaking wet, but they were having such a blast that we just sat back and watched them play. Below are a few of pictures I was able to take of their fun. Enjoy! (oh, and the only reason Hannah has a swimsuit on is because it is the only thing she will wear lately....she even sleeps in one...and goes to the store in one....and to the park...and rides her bike in one....you get the idea)
