Hannie's Bedroom

Whew, I think it's done....Hannah's "big girl room" is finally finished! (well, for now....a room is never finished now, is it :-)  Mike hung the shelves for me today, and I got to check off the last of the to do's for her room.  Below are some pictures. I think it turned out really cute.  Her new cream bedding and chandelier have been ordered and should arrive later this week (so I guess Mike will have at least one more to do!), so picture the room with those additions!  Also, sometime this fall Mike will be adding cream molding around the lower half of her walls....so picture that as well :-) Ok, so not done....but done enough for now!

Her walls are painted a chocolately brown...the name of the color was hot cocoa, and seriously, when I poured it out of the can, it looked good enough to drink!

LOVE her headboard. Looks great in person.  Pink and cream toile. Love it. (weird reflection on the walls from the mirrors on her shelf)
Blank picture frame on the wall...haven't found a picture yet.

Found this doll house at a garage sale for $40, including furniture and people - bargain. I had Mike make me a small little table to set it on. I covered it in some burlap and added some nailhead trim.  I'm planning on adding some paint to the house, but won't probably do that until the fall.

I've had this rocking chair for about five years, and never used it. I bought it from some small antique store. It didn't have a seat, so I had Mike cut me a seat and I covered it with fabric from her crib bedding.
And here is a close-up of her headboard.  You can't tell from the pictures, but it's nice and soft and padded....comfy to lean against!

So....onto Griff's room!

Strawberry Fields Forever

I took the kids to a strawberry farm this morning for some pickin' fun.  Fun was had by all, although I think the part they liked best was eating the berries on the car ride home!  We came home with 8 pounds, which I thought was a lot, until I saw many other families walking away with double and triple that. What do they do with all the berries??? I'm planning on going back after the 4th - their blueberries will be ready then, and the kids LOVE blueberries.

Beachin' It

Well, it's HOT. And we love it. We've been spending time outside with the pools, sprinklers and various water toys to keep cool.  Over the weekend, Mike and I took the kids to the beach, and they had a blast. I took them back today, Tuesday, because it was another scorcher.  They had so much fun. The beach pictures below are from the weekend.  And I know, there are no pictures of Abby. She was off with Mike most of the day in the deep water and I wasn't able to get any pictures of her.

Almost done with Hannah's room - will post pictures soon. It's looking pretty cute!

Furniture Facelift

I've been busy painting furniture this past week. I wanted to paint a dresser in Hannah's room and a desk in Abby's.  We got the dresser at an auction house in IL many years ago, and although it's really pretty, the finish on it wasn't that great. I'm updating Hannah's room now that she is in a big girl bed, and decided it was time to paint it cream. I love the way it turned out, and I can't wait to finish her room. I'm on the lookout for a bookcase - I'm hoping to find one at one of our many garage sale adventures!

I found a cute desk for Abby on craigslist a couple of weeks ago.  It was a really cute shape, but had a bad dark finish on it, and ugly 70's hardware.  A couple coats of cream paint, new stain and varnish on top (and a bit of sanding by Mike!), and new hardware was all it took. I LOVE IT.  Seriously, I L.O.V.E this desk.  I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.  And I only paid $20 for it......

As soon as I finish Hannah's room, I'm onto Griff's. He has said he wants a red and blue room, so I'm seeing lots red and blue paint in my future!

Oh, and I'm working on a headboard for Hannah's room right now - I hope it turns out as great and I think it will. It is a fabric headboard with a wood trim. I should finish it this weekend, and if I can get Mike to put it up on Father's Day weekend, I'll post pictures on Sunday!

Oh, the kids are fine, too!  Abby is in a Fairy theater camp this week, and she is loving it. She has a little performance tonight, so I'll take some pictures. I'm off to garage sales with H&G, in search of any little treasure we may find :-)

Lastly, below is a collage I made for Mike for Father's Day (I'm banking on the fact that he won't read this before Sunday!).  I enlarged it to 16x20 and matted and framed it. I thought it would look great in his office at work.

(Minimal typing due to dislocated pinky finger - fell off the exercise ball doing push-ups - don't ask. Enjoy pictures.)

Apple, Car Wash, Pool Fun

Pictures from the last few days. Sunday was spent outside, playing, eating apples (Hannah LOVES to eat the ENTIRE apple, core and all!), and helping Dad wash the truck.  Monday was spent playing in the pool. I broke down and got the "big" pool out versus the small one, and you would have though the kids had won the lottery. Griff especially was thrilled with the big pool, and kept telling me how cool it was and that it was so exciting!

Abby's last day of school is Thursday. Hard to believe she is done with Kindergarden.  She is very sad to be leaving her friends and her teacher.

Enjoy the pictures.
